Time really flies and just when I was so looking forward to spending a great weekend, the days just passed in the blink of an eye. And what have I done over the weekend? Nothing. No scrapping or crafting at all.
However I’ve had some visitors at my home yesterday. My sister, Lilian, whom I haven’t seen for 2 months popped by with my nephew. She’s been busy at work herself, clocking up almost more than 12 hours shift at the hospital. Oh, I forgot to tell you that she’s a nurse, working in the transplant department, I think. LOL! She told me about her specialization of her job, all I know is that she’s always in the operating theatre doing transplant cases. She’s been a nurse like, for 20 years? Yeah, she’s now a senior staff nurse and will be taking up her degree course in nursing soon. I wish her all the best and I know she’ll do just great.
My good friend, Annabelle, also popped by with her daughter, Spring and we spent a good couple of hours catching up. We haven’t seen each other for almost 2 months too because I was away from town most of the weeks. Spring is Ethan’s so-called ‘girlfriend’. Hahahahahahahaha!! Yeah, they’ve been playmates for a couple of years now and yesterday, it showed that they really missed each other very much.
And the other news I got to tell you is that, I finally bought myself a new wide angle zoom lense!! YES!!! I’m so happy that I just couldn’t contained my excitement and my heart was jumping up and down for joy when I tried out the lense in the store!! LOL!! (Anyway, you should see me when i was in the store, I pretended to be really cool about it and it just doesn’t shows that i was excited at all!! :D)
So, here’s what I got for myself!
This is a Tokina AT-X 124 AF PRO 12-24mm/f4 lense, which came highly recommended by an old friend, Eric, who also happens to be my wedding photographer years ago. I told him I have been wanting to get a wide angle lense for the longest time and I couldn’t decide what is the best lense. So, he recommended this to me which is also what he is using for his photography work. He told me this lense produced really sharp images and good color contrast. I have also gone online to check out some reviews on this lense before I made the final decision to buy it. And I have to say it is a brilliant choice!
I only owned a 50mm lense which is good only for portrait shots. So, I decided it is time to get myself a reasonably good wide angle lense and this couldn’t be a better time. When I got home, I tested it out right away but the shots were taken at home. So, the result may not be what I expected but it’s good enough for me right now.
Nevertheless, I tried it out and I’m happy with the qualityt of the pictures. The color contrast are really great and sharpness is pretty good but I’m hoping when I use it outdoor, it’ll give me a better result.
Here’s a couple of unedited shots I took yesterday with my new baby.
With the f4 aperture, it allows plenty of light to enter the camera. Even though this shot was taken in the house, with only some natural light coming in from the window, the shot turned out bright and clear. The green on my nephew shirt captured here is so vivid and is the exact green of what he was wearing. His hand was blurred because he was moving frantically while playing with his P2P handheld and my son at the back, he was also blurred because he just couldn’t sit still and fidgeted about while trying to see what was the game about. So, I’m happy with the quality of the colors this lense produced.
Here’s another unedited close shot of Ethan.
I took this picture against the light coming in from the window and yet, it still turned out reasonable bright and clear. All in all, I’m very happy with my new baby.
Anyway, I’ll be travelling to the Philippines again soon in the coming weeks and I’ll be there on one of the weekends, my first time to be away on the weekend. So, to keep my minds off from missing my family too much, I’m planning on a short trip to somewhere out of the Manila city for a photography excursion. I hope I could come back with some wonderful pictures of the country, which I haven’t explore for the past half year.
I hope you’ve had a great weekend and I’ll see you again soon!
Good night and have a great week ahead of you!
