A new start

to a brand new year. I’ve had the same look on my blog for close to 2 years now and I decided it’s time for a change. I love the simplicity of this new look to my blog, a new template which I downloaded today. So, this will be a new start to the year.

I hope all of you had a wonderful New Year eve celebration last night with your family and friends. My family and I had some quiet time with a group of friends. We had a potluck dinner at one of my girlfriends’  home. The kids were having a ball of a time with a few breed of dogs belonging to some of them. One of them, Brownie, a Labrador was simply adorable and gentle with the kids and I was lucky to have some beautiful shots of him. Here is one my favourites,

I wish  could bring him home. 🙂

There’s something I want to show you of my friends place, something I think you would love it as much as I do.

Did you see something I see here?

Her place is really awesome, simple and yet cosy.

So, did you see something really “special” in the picture?

YES!! It’s the tree on the wall!!

When I first stepped into this house a couple of months, I fell head over heels in love with this tree! It’s really unique to have a sticker tree as part of the wall decor. Isn’t it cool? 🙂

Gosh, I just love the whole place! Wish I could have a loft like this in future. And another thing I love this place is that there’s a yard behind the house, where you could step out and relax after a nice dinner and get a natural breeze of air.

You see what I mean? I guess you could tell by the look of the hubby and Ethan with Brownie, they were having a great time. 🙂

Ok, that’s all I could show you of my friend’s place before I post more, or else people will be calling me to ask if she wants to sell her place! LOL! She’ll kill me for sure. 😉

We stayed home the whole day, just lazed around doing nothing. I woke up close to noon, thanks to my late night watching movies after movies on tv with the hubby until about 4am! Well, it’s a holiday today and we hardly had time alone to catch any programs on tv, we might as well do that. I’ve never had time to watch tv for years and years, seriously.

My helper started spring cleaning the house for the coming Chinese New Year celebration. So, she brought out my old toy so she could clean the wardrobe. And our young friend had so much fun, wrestling with my “dog” which the hubby won at the fun fair years ago.

And wrestling he did with that big poor “dog”.

Gosh, after being wrestled so much by Ethan, my poor toy “dog” required some resuscitation.

And this is to remind you that, please do not allow your child to conduct CPR without any parental guidance. LOL!

Yeah, Ethan decided to give the “dog” CPR with my watchful eye. Eeerr………… I’m not sure you would consider this a CPR, after you look at these pictures. 🙂

He was pressing on the eyes, rather than the heart. What a great technique! LOL!

With the tongue hanging out, the “dog” doesn’t look like it could hold on much longer! Sheesh, Ethan seriously needs something training on CPR. LOL!

You know what? Years and years ago while I was attending this CPR training on a dummy which was hooked to the machine to measure the rate, I broke too many rib bones I failed miserably. LOL! I was eventually qualified after many attempts.

I guess Ethan took after this mummy at the way he did his CPR. 😉

Here are a few more of my favourite pictures I took of Ethan today. He’s seriously having so much fun that the hubby and Ihad a really good laugh at his antics.

He seems to have great interest in taking pictures, so I’m letting him play with my PNS. Surprisingly, he could capture images beyond our imagination. At his age, he could see things that we don’t and that’s something I want to nurture in him. And we hope that one day, he’ll have a deep passion for photography just like his mummy. 🙂

So much so for a lazy day, he never ceased to crack us up all the whole day. That’s something we love so much about him. He has a great sense of humour, just like the both of us. 😀 And we’re glad he’s a happy boy.

I know this is a super long post, so I’m going to quickly share 2 more things here before I call it a day.

I scrapped this just 2 days ago. Something fun, which I haven’t done so for a long time and I’m happy how it turned out.

I’ve been on a great scrapping momentum and I hope it will continue to be this way constantly. I don’t want to ever give up on scrapbooking, it is the last thing I would do.

And last but not least, as I’ve promised, I have another New Year giveaway I’m giving out to someone. Someone who deserve it better than I do. 🙂

I got this main kit from SOMO early last year and I have not used it. So, instead of letting it sit on my shelf for another year, I’ll draw a name on Sunday, 4 Jan.

Pop right in and tell me if you have made any New Year resolution for this year but if you don’t, it’s fine. I’ll still put in your name for the draw.

You wanna know what’s my New Year resolution? LOL!

I didn’t make one this year, and the same for the past few years. I stopped making one ages ago because I’ve never fulfilled any of my resolutions. LOL!

It’s something I don’t want to force upon myself. Why make empty promises to myself if I can’t keep them? I’d rather do something and be happy with whatever outcome that comes with it. If I do something good, that’s great, if not, I still move on. It’s not the end of the world if I don’t achieve something in any given time. Why put a condition to your life if you know if you’ll be miserable living with it.

But there are a few things I would love to do and I would be happy if I’m able to fulfilled one of them. I’m not giving myself any time frame. This is unconditional and they’re something I should be doing.

1. Spend more quality time with my family and friends.

2. Try not to bring my work home, if I could help it.

3. Improve my photography and photo editing skill.

4. Save more money for the rainy days.

5. Spend less on my camera equipments (if I could help it. lol!)

6. Spend less on electronic gadgets (the same as 5, if I could help it. lol!)

7. Create more projects during my free time.

8. Do more sewing (if possible)

I think these 8 things that I would love to do would be good enough for now. I’d be happy if I could fufilled half of them.

So, what’s yours? 😉

Hi Leena just wanted to say I LOVE that layout!!! The photos of Ethan are soo cute! Oh, and can I have that house!! You weren’t kidding, so restful!! Makes me want to chuck out half of my stuff and make some room! Happy New Year to you my new friend!

  • JenniferJanuary 2, 2009 - 5:32 am

Hi Leena! So glad that your feeling better and you have time home with your family! You seem much happier to get that one on one time you need!

As for my resolutions, I too don’t make hard-core ones like ‘lose 30 pounds’, etc. I just try to thik of some things that need some changes and work towards though – Not to take everything so seriously, try to scrap just a page or two more then I would have last year, start a budget for a family vacation. Things that I can work towards, and adjust to fit as the days and months go by.

Hope you have/had a wonderful holiday season and wonderful New Year!

  • JoJanuary 2, 2009 - 7:56 am

Hello Leena! I also set my new year resolution but not never meet it. So I will make a more realistic resolution for this year. That’s having a balance life between my work and family. Work overtime not more than 3 times a week. Spend more time with my boys and their studies.

What a long post, but I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics (including the lo) and wonderful moments. New year resolution? Same as you, I stop doing that long long ago 🙂 I am not ambitious at all, very easy-going, and I don’t like to stress myself out. So I am still where I am 🙂 But happy to be where I am too 🙂 I believe in trying your best and being happy. 2009, I want to improve, be a better wife, better mother, better teacher, better scrapbooker, better photographer.

    Happy New Year!

And, may I say that I love that tree! Hehe… For this year, I want to be able to manage my time well – at home and at work so that I will be able to accomplish more. 🙂

  • PriyaJanuary 3, 2009 - 10:22 pm

Happy New Year Leena to you and yours. Such lovely and lively photos. I so recognise the fake smiles. My kids have a regular ‘photo smile’ that cracks me up coz its nothing like their usual smiles. Anyways, you get what you get…right! I did resolve to lose some weight this year. Have some health issues and apparently the best way to get rid of those problems is to lose weight. Docs orders. So I sure am gonna try and I will succeed.

  • JeteJanuary 3, 2009 - 10:35 pm
