Day #9

So, what is it gonna be today?

Well, I’ve been home and I feel kinda lazy to venture out to get some pictures taken. So, again, I resorted to snapping whatever is in my home. 😀

I kind of like this shot. Though it’s only a S$0.90-worth of an Ikea fake flower, ths stand alone flower looks pretty after I did a little touch up with PS.

So, this will be my still picture for today.

Details: Canon EF28-135mm  f/3.5-5.6 lens, focal length~65mm, f-stop~f/5, exposure~1/50sec, ISO400, Aperture Priority, no flash, minor PS editing on contrast & hue.

You will notice that most of my pictures were taken at Aperture Priority Mode (I usually set at small numbers). Choosing a small number (large aperture) will ensure a nice shallow Depth-Of-Field. In this shot, it isolates my flower from the background, putting the focus on my flower and eliminates unwanted distraction from the background. This is my favourite manual setting that I love to play with.

If you want to learn more about these basic settings on your camera, please pop by DPS for their hundreds and hundreds of photography tips and tutorials. You’ll be amazed what you can learn from this place. Since I found it, I’ve been reading articles after articles, everyday. I know for a fact that there’s no short cuts to improve my skill, so this is one of ways I could do that.

Happy Saturday! 😀

    wow~ nice picture.
i’m new to use photoshop(less than 1 year).
i notice most of your photo using “minor” PS editing on contrast and Hue.

    1. Mind to share the minor steps to get the effect for this photo? (four corners in black, burning mark)
Or you get the effect when you shooting?

    2. How to shoot photo so that the stalk is blur, coz no PS for blurness? teach first for teaching.
