Good morning Friday! It’s a bright sunny day in Singapore today! We haven’t seen a day like this for a very long time. It’s been gloomy and rainy the past couple of months on this tiny island. So, right now, I’m having a silly wide smile plastered on my face!
Anyway, welcome back to me! I’ve been gone for a while, being away with my family to Sentosa Island last week, lunch and dinner with family and friends and also keeping the house in good condition. And guess what? My lovely helper Sofia is finally back from her vacation! Yipee! My dear son missed her the most and the last 2 days, he was stuck to her like leech! *laugh*
So, I finally managed to squeeze some time now to pop in here to share what I’ve been doing in preparation of my Project Life starting 2012. I’m kind of nervous actually as this will be my first time taking on Project Life and I don’t know if I will be able to manage it well but I will definitely try my very best. I’ve been browsing around other people’s Project Life and trying to get ideas how to prep, the process of putting everything together, managing time. If you need some ideas to get started like me, you can visit Becky Higgins Creative Team members for amazing inspiration.
Well, after going through tons of inspiration, I have to admit I still can’t shake off that uncertainty that has been lingering around for weeks. The closer we’re getting to 2012 (in 2 days time!!), the nervousness is chewing me up fast & furious!
To calm myself down, I took a couple of hours off to sort out my stuff. I de-stash my scraproom and at the same time re-organized my materials. I pulled out some products from my stash which I find will fit into my Project Life album.
As being cautioned by some of the scrapbookers who have been on this Project Life for at least a year or more, the binder album will be filled up quickly with photo pocket pages, journaling cards, photos, other added embellishments etc. Using thick embellishments will caused the binder to fill up before one can finish a year’s worth of recording.
So I picked out some products from my stash (not the latest collection) which I think will be great addition to the Clementine Core Kit that I’ve purchased. These embellishments of stickers, journaling tags, tickets, masking tapes, stamps & alpha stickers that I picked out are flat so they won’t add too much thickness to the photo pocket pages and binder.
I found these tickets amongst my stash I bought some time back. I don’t use them too often because I love them too much to use them up. *laugh* So now they will come in handy to add them onto my Project Life. The tickets on top in a small booklet are from Tim Holtz. The one at the bottom with months and words, I can’t exactly remember the brand. I’m not too sure if all of these tickets are still available in the market.
These flat alpha, words and quotes stickers are absolutely a must to be added to my Project Life. You can find many of these from manufacturers such as Jenni Bowlin, EK Success, Doodlebug, Pink Paisles, 7 Gypsies, American Crafts, Provo Craft, October Afternoon etc. They can be added to the photos or journaling cards as well.
Oh, I find that these empty journaling stickers or cardstock stickers will also be useful to be added to my Project Life. The ones I got from Scenic Route (one of my all time favorite manufacturers) are no longer available. Unfortunately, Scenic Route has ceased their operation during the crisis period around 2008/2009. I’ve missed their products very much and fortunately, I still have quite a bit of their stuff in my stash.Other journaling sticker brands like Jenni Bowlin, Basic Grey and Adornit are some of my favorites as well.
These journaling/cardstock stickers that I bought have a mixed of empty stickers and some are filled with words and phrases. Some of my favorite collections come from October Afternoon, Crate Paper, Bo Bunny and Cosmo Cricket. I think they would be great when at times I run out of words to journal on a particular week. I doubt I will be full of mojo every week and add my own journaling every week through out the year, so these will definitely come in really handy. You know, some days you just need to let the photos speak for themselves, right?
I’ve also recently purchased some journaling, calendar and numbers tags from Elle’s Studio which I’ve seen some of the people using them in their Project Life. The calendar and numbers tags would certainly add some reminder on the dates of my photos taken, special event & outings, family holidays etc.
Masking & fabric tapes! Who doesn’t love them, right? *laugh* Over the years I’ve collected a substantial amount of masking & fabric tapes I think can last me a lifetime. So, now I can put them to good use in my upcoming Project Life, you know, just an added touch to the photos and also journaling cards. I’ve bought some of those lovely tapes from my trip to Tokyo a couple of years ago, some are from Scraplicious, some are my DT stash from Hambly and the rest were bought from online store.
I think ephemeras would also be useful on Project Life, so as long as they’re not too thick. I’ve picked out this ephemera from Pink Paislee I got earlier this year I think. It’s time to use them!
I was at the bookstore a couple of days ago buying stationeries for Ethan to prepare for his new school term starting next week, I came upon this date stamp, which I think will be brilliant to date my weekly Project Life updates. I’ve seen someone use this before but I can’t remember who & where. Anyway, this date stamp doesn’t cost must so you should get one yourself for date stamping on your Project Life or even your other scrapbooking projects.
I’m not a big fan of stamps but I have some very old collections in my stash. They’ve been very much neglected, seriously. So I thought some of them can be put to good use since they don’t take up any space in the binder or journaling cards at all. I think they would be a nice touch to the journal cards or even photos. The ones below are some of my favorites, purchased recently from Kinokuniya bookstore.
I managed to dig out some old journaling tags/cards from one of my drawers and they have to be used with my Project Life! They will go to waste if I don’t use them now. Even though I’ve bought the Clementine core kit which comes in a complete set of beautiful journaling cards, I will be mixing them with some of my old stash. Most of these are from Jillibean Soup, Jenni Bowlin and 7 Gypsies which I’ve bought for years. So, I’m not too sure if they’re still available in the market but I’m sure you can get similiar ones that look just as good.
And last but not least, these are the most important products that I’ll be using for my Project Life, the Clementine Core Kit from Becky Higgins! I’ve posted them a while back when I first collected them from Scraplicious but now I’ve going to show you some of the journaling card content which I found them to be awesome!! Love them to bits!!
Phew!! I’ve overloaded this post with lots of photos but I’m glad I’m able to find time to blog before new year.
So here’s wishing all of you a wonderful New Year and hope 2012 will be a blast for you!!
See ya all in 2012 soon!
