Project Life | Week 4 Twenty12

Project Life | Week 4

We’re now at the end of January and I actually made it through my Project Life for four weeks! Yay to me! *laugh* It’s a big feat if you ask me, as I was very doubtful right from the start if I would ever survive the whole process of documenting and putting my pages together but I did it! Week 1 & 2 was a struggle for me but I gained momentum once week 3 & 4 approached.

A valuable lesson that I learned through out the month, never spend a single day putting one week’s worth of spread together. It nearly kill me! I was spending too much time selecting photos to include into my spread, editing & printing photos, slotting them into the pockets and complete the pages with journaling and embellishments. It was hard work, REALLY hard work. I was supposed to enjoy the process, not spend time agonizing over it. But right now, I truly enjoy it! Especially when I flip through the 4 weeks worth of documentation, it made me smile and I feel so proud I could actually journal my thoughts easier than I expected. *laugh* Yes, I’m totally hopeless on the journaling part but I’m getting there. 🙂

From week 3 of January onwards, I started spending the weekdays sifting through my photos, editing and printing them. And if I’m up to it after I return home from work and completely done helping Ethan with his schoolwork, I will start to adhere the photos onto the journal cards, add some tapes, label, sticker etc. For the final touch and journaling, I would leave them to the weekend and it took me only about an hour or so to finish up the week’s spread and photographing them. It will take me another half hour to edit the images for blog posting. So, I feel more comfortable with this pace rather than cram everything together in a single day.

Great lesson learned for the month of January. 😀

So, here’s my week 4 spread, filled with lots of yummy goodies from Becky Higgins Clementine core kit (purchased from Scraplicious), lots of masking tapes, my scraps from my own stash e.g. Crate Paper, The Girls Paperie and Prima pattern papers, labels and words stickers from 7 Gypsies, October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, brads, stamps, AC Thickers alphabets etc.

Page one is filled with all images with my family from the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration.

Page two is solely dedicated to images of my friends and I when we met up for New Year brunch. One of my best friends returned home from Australia to celebrate New Year with her family and I was very thankful to be able to meet up with her despite her busy schedule. She never fail to make time to meet us each time she’s home for a visit.

I have also included an insert for the final week of January. That made 3 inserts for the whole month! I just can’t get enough of extra inserts but I need to be very careful adding them or my binder will be filled up quickly before I can complete a full year of pages. I’ve already foresee that I need at least 2 binders but I’m fine with it. 🙂

This is the front page of the insert, which I made a collage of Instagram images of my dear hub and son. It’s kind of like a simplified layout but in 8.5″ x 11″ size. I love these pictures taken on day one of the Lunar New Year because both of my boys were clearly amused by the oranges! *laugh* Such simple items could make them feel so giggly and funny. They could make anything into something so fun. 😀

Here’s the back page of the insert. I made a collage of Instagram photos taken throughout the month of January and I posted a simple tutorial on the collage a few days ago here. I’m going to make this again to conclude each month with my Instagram images.

And here are the rest of the photo pockets in close-ups.

Page one spread is filled up with Becky Higgins journal cards, Crate Paper and The Girls Paperie paper scraps, masking tapes, October Afternoon and 7 Gypsies stickers, Provo Craft and AC Thickers alphas. And of course random sewing on the cards.

Page two spread.

I filled them with lots of yummy Becky Higgins blank journal cards, Crate Paper goodies and lots of stickers & labels from October Afternoon, 7 Gypsies, Cosmo Cricket, masking tapes, rub-ons, doily, brad, AC Thickers alphas.

That’s about it for the final week of January.

Here’s the overview of both pages together with the insert.

Hi there! I found your blog via Twitter (#projectlife). I stumbled upon Project Life yesterday and thought it’s such a good idea to document anything especially memories of special events! Yours look really good. I’m thinking of getting a set for myself to get started with. 🙂

I tried doing little things here & there throughout the week but that didn’t work for me either, so I’m back to doing it all on one day. And you’re right. It is extremely time-consuming but I think I am just going to accept that one of my weaknesses is not being good at planning ahead 🙂 Your week 4 is gorgeous. Love all the family/friend pics.
