Not Everyday Is Like Sunday

Oh how I wish everyday is like Sunday! But unfortunately, it is not for most of us. Life gets a little crazy sometimes and it happened to me the last one week. That’s the consequences of being away from the office for a week and when you return to work, you had like a thousand emails waiting for you to read and reply and a long queue behind you with people requesting “this is urgent!” *laugh*.

Gosh, I missed staying at home! But I had to go back to reality, which means back to work. No more lazying in bed, waking up only when the sun rises and nearly burns the butt, eat my meals leisurely, getting to spend time on the couch to watch tv with my son, greeting my husband at the door when he returns home from work, have a nice dinner with my family and lots of cuddling time (we still do this every night without fail). All of these x 7 days a week = impossible. *laugh*

No seriously, I was absolutely swarmed with datelines and still are and still will be in the next few months. Lots are going on at work and I’m trying to be productive within the given time of 8 hours at work so I could come home on time, free my mind of work and spend lots of quality time with my family. That’s the deal being a working mum. I’m not complaining. I love my work because it pays me well, it brings me to places, and most of all, I love working with my team and some of my other colleagues who have great compassion for other people. That makes it enjoyable for me to go to work.:)

Anyway, enough of my whining!

Here’s some things I’d like to share with you. While I was home 2 weeks ago recuperating, I went shopping online for some reading materials to pass my time. There were several books I’ve been wanting to buy but I couldn’t find time to visit the bookstore, so I just search them in Kinokuniya online store. And I was ecstatic when I found that the books were available in the store! I bought them immediately without second thoughts. I just love the fuss-free shopping at Kinokuniya online store in Singapore. My books were delivered within 2 days, with free delivery service and I received 10% off my total purchase with my membership card. That’s triple happiness!:D

I’ve got myself two of Kinfolk magazines, Volume 4 and Volume 5, which has just been released. I’ve seen Kinfolk magazines around in some sites quite a while ago and I’ve been wanting to get these for a long time but was out of stock in another store. So, I was very glad when they’re available in Kinokuniya.

Here’s what this magazine is all about.

“Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.

Every element of Kinfolk—the features, photography, and general aesthetics—are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends.”

I’m half way through reading Volume 5 and I have to say the write-up and images are absolutely inspiring and beautiful! I’ve enjoyed every single page and I’m savoring the two books at my own leisure. I definitely have to order the earlier volumes when the stocks are available again.:)

And here’s the other book, Wonder Walls by Sarah Bagner, that I highly recommend for your own leisure reading and those who wants loads of inspiration decorating your wall at home or studio.

This book is filled with tons of inspiring ideas on how you can show off the things you own or collect on your wall. I was really blown away by some of the walls filled with amazing things and treasures that people collect. I was drooling and dreaming how cool it will be if my wall could look one eighth of theirs! *laugh*

These books are a good read and very inspiring. You could just cuddle up on the couch or bed with a cup of hot coffee or chocolate, and spend the rest of your morning or afternoon reading them.

If you’re getting them, I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.:)

Have a great week ahead!
