Stitching Collage

If you’ve been sitting on the fence on this one, you should jump right in now. There’ll be tons of amazing projects to inspire you! And I’ve been hand stitching non-stop on my Project Life spread for this STITCHED class.

In case you’re wondering if you really need a sewing machine to do this class, not exactly. 90% of my work here are all hand stitched, that’s what all the fun is about! 🙂

So, I’ll see you in class soon!

Project Life | 2014 Week 7 & 8

I haven’t been around here much lately. A lot of things going on at home. Good things of course, nothing to be alarmed of. 🙂  Oh, just so you know, I’ve quit my job two weeks ago, taking a short break from work and now staying at home. I’ve been loving every minute of my time, spending precious time with both my boys especially Ethan.

Anyway, the day is finally here for the full reveal of Studio Calico April’s Bluegrass Farm kits! I think this has been my favorite time of the month for as long as I can remember. I’m always excited for the reveal and share the amazingness of Studio Calico kits month after month.

So, without further ado, here are my Week 7 and Week 8 Project Life spreads using the Bluegrass Farm Project Life Kit, PL add-ons Gertrude, Tabasco and the add-on stamp set Nelly.

For Week 7, I used only the Bluegrass Farm Project Life Kit, together with coordinated digital printable Bluegrass Farm Printable by In A Creative Bubble, Hello Forever and Printable Labels by Hello Forever.

What I love about this month’s kit is the cork alphas and the cards! I’ve practically used up almost all the alphas on this spread. The size is just perfect for Project Life. I do hope Studio Calico will make more of this in their future kits. 🙂

_MG_4298aThe typewriter on this week’s title card was cut out from one of the 3×4 cards. I just added a strip of the banner sticker and crop alphas to complete the card.

The mini flair button is also my favorite because of it’s size. It makes a great accent on the PL card.

See what I mean on the cork alphas? They are seriously awesome!

And here’s my Week 8 using a mix of Bluegrass Farm Project Life add-ons GertrudeTabasco and the add-on stamp set Nelly, together with digital printable by In A Creative BubbleHello Forever and Printable Labels by Hello Forever.

I’ve used a lot of whites in this spread, so that it gives a pop of colors from the embellishments from both Gertrude & Tabasco. The white background cards that I used, they are the 4×3 and 4×6 grid cards, which are my all time favorite staple items from Studio Calico. I have stocked them up for at least a few months worth because I know I will use them often. 🙂

_MG_4334aOh oh, I have to tell you that I absolutely love the white office envelope that came in Gertrude add-on! The size fits perfectly in the 4×6 pocket, how cool is that?! When I first received this kit and saw this, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. And so I decided to use it as my Week 8 title card, layering it lightly with the printable label and shapes. I completed the card with bits and pieces of puffy star sticker, gold star sequins and white mini and cork alphas.

If you’ve noticed, I adhered the Journal Card Die Cut by Barbara Picinich onto a 4×6 grid card before I added the photo and embellishments. I could do with more of the stars puffy stickers! Super LOVE them!

I’m a lover of enamel dots and I’m thrilled it came in the Tabasco add-on! Oh, and that cork die cut shape, it’s adorable!

What I also love about Tabasco is the pie chart die cut. It’s so colorful, bright and cheerful!

You see what I told about my love for enamel dots? *laugh* I went overboard and filled up the centre piece of the pie chart with a whole lot of enamel dots. I love how it turned out.

I hope you’ve managed to grab what you wanted on the add-ons. I promise you’ll love them as much as I do.

Thanks again for all your lovely messages you left in my Instagram and I’ll be back soon with a sneak of my project for Studio Calico Stitched Class. If you haven’t sign up for the class, you still have until 31 March to do so.

Make sure you make full use of the 50% off code to purchase any past kits when you sign up for the class. See you in class soon! 🙂

Blog Hop1

1) Silhouette Cameo – This probably is one of the best investments I’ve made in my entire life! You don’t know how much Silhouette Cameo have changed my life since I bought it two years ago. I think without this machine, I would never have probably started Project Life. It cuts all my labels, PL cards and die-cut shapes that I use in every spread of my Project Life. The print and cut function for example, is one of the best features that make a whole lot of difference on how I approach my Project Life. I would not trade anything else for this machine!

2) My other must-have item that I use ALL the time would be the Tiny Attacher. It helped me secure my labels, wood veneer, alphas, chipboard shapes and even my photos on my Project Life cards. It’s so useful that this is the second most important tool that I cannot leave without.

3) The WRMK Corner Chomper is my 3rd must have tool that I always use to round the corners of my Project Life cards. I used to leave some of my cards as it is, but I’ve grown so fond of this chomper I use them all the time now. This piece chopper can round off the corner of your cards at 1/8″ and 3/8″ radius. Brilliant tool I would say! 🙂

4) Color Theory Enamel Dots –  enamel dots definitely is one of my top 5 must have items on the list. If you’ve noticed my Project Life spreads, I use them almost every week. Almost. It’s a great accent and with all the wonderful colors available, it made it more difficult to resist. I have a complete range of the Color Theory Enamel Dots from Pink, Red, Yellow, Green, Aqua, Blue, Purple and to Neutral. Yes, I have all these colors! *laugh*

5) And here’s my 5th must have item that I use all the time when I update my Project Life. This Versafine Onyx Black ink produce such fine quality stamping. This oil-based pigment ink dries up almost immediately on matte cardstock. And the best about this ink pad is that it lasts 2-3 times longer than any regular inks! I’ve been using mine the art one year and it still inks perfectly!

Do hop over to the other CTs blogs and see what are their favorite 5 must have crafting products. Lisa Truesdall would be next on line after me if you haven’t pop over her blog. 🙂

Have fun!

It’s the time of the month for Studio Calico Sneak Peek!

The Bluegrass Farm kits and add-ons are filled with LOTS of gorgeous spring colors. Studio Calico have outdone themselves month after month, and this is no exception! I have to say that I had a wonderful time playing with the Project Life kit, PL add-ons and the add-on stamp as well. 🙂

I believe you would agree the same looking at these amazing kit and add-ons right?

BLUEGRASS-FARM-PL-MAIN-D3Gertrude – Project Life Add-on 1

Tabasco – Project Life Add-on 2

Nelly – Stamp Add-on

PL-STAMP-ADD-NELLYAmazing, aren’t they?

And here are what I made from these kit and add-ons.

Both of the above are from the main Project Life kit. The cork alphas are to-die for! They’re just perfect for my title card and adding prompts to my cards.

I’m using Tabasco on this sneak. I’m absolutely in love with the colors! And I have a soft spot for enamel dots too, one of my my 5 must-have embellishments for my Project Life.

This sneak features Nelly, the add-on stamp, which I adore! Some of prompts are very much Instagram related, so I’m thrilled to be playing with this stamp. Oh, and the banners, tabs and everything else in this stamp. This is a MUST get item if you’re considering this stamp. 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed my sneaks and stay tuned for the full reveal happening on the 27th March at noon EST / 11am CST for the subscribers and midnight for everyone else.

Have a great week ahead!

  • Sue FitzGeraldMarch 17, 2014 - 8:34 pm

It all looks gorgeous, love your sneaks, can’t wait to get my hands on that stamp set, looks like I will be setting my alarm very early that morning (I think it is around 3am here in Australia).

  • MyelifeinpicturesMarch 21, 2014 - 2:36 am

Oh goodluck to my wallet! I love everything but I am limiting myself to the stamp add on and either Gertrude or Tabasco. I love the stamp in Tabasco (the xoxo) and the enamel dots which I am currently addicted to. So maybe it would be Tabasco.
It would be my first presale so I am a bit nervous…I hope I get the add ons I love. I’ve read that add-ons get sold so fast. I have yet to determine what time the presale will be here in Dubai.

I’ve been wanting to try cutting my washi tapes with my Silhouette Cameo for a while but I was afraid it would tear but after I’ve received some reassurance from the wonderful community at Studio Calico that it works, I jumped right in.

I picked out some of my favorite washi tapes from my huge collection and taped them across onto a A4 size white non-textured cardstock. The washi tapes were placed in an alternate manner, giving it a little variety of colors and designs.

Then, I opened up my Silhouette Studio, picked out a Hearts design by Karla Dudley that I bought from Silhouette online store.

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 11.37.44 AM

This is the setting that I used to cut the hearts.

Custom Media – Textured Cardstock (Heavy 80 lb)

Speed – 5

Thickness – Default setting at 33

Blade – size 4 (I just changed to a new one few days ago)

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 12.05.33 PMAnd I’m all ready to cut!

Here’s how it turned out.

I’m happy that it cuts into the washi and cardstock clean and sharp. As long as you’re not using card stocks that are too thick, it will cut right into the paper layered with washi tapes.

Oh, this is seriously very addictive.

I even tried out a more intricate design, with words this time and reduced the size of the word to around 2 3/4″ width x 1 3/4″ height and it cut out perfectly as well. Love how it turned out!

You know I’ve been using alphas on my Project Life title card most weeks, so I cut out the word Week on my woodgrain washi, just giving it a different look.

The Week font used is Brush Script Std.

It’s been a fruitful and productive experiment. Love it and will definitely try it again, very often I foresee. 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed my quick review on how I use Silhouette Cameo to cut up some washi.

Happy Saturday!

  • LindaMarch 1, 2014 - 5:30 pm

Awesome. Yes I will be playing with that tonight and making sure I have that font.
